OSCT CONTEST Briefings for the Security Industry

10/02/2010 to 10/02/2010

Date: 10 February 2010

Venue: London, UK

The OSCT will hold a day of briefings for the security industry in central London on Wednesday 10 February 2010. The OSCT is grateful for the assistance of the UK Security & Resilience Industry Suppliers' Community (RISC, which is the alliance of three major trade associations: BSIA, A|D|S and Intellect), which is assisting the OSCT in the organisation of this event.

Which companies should attend?
The day is designed for and will appeal to the security guarding and escorting industry (predominantly members of the BSIA) – specifically companies that:

  • provide guarding services across the UK;
  • manage and move prisoners, many of whom are vulnerable people;
  • protect many parts of the National Infrastructure and crowded places.

The day will also be relevant to other segments of the security industry (including any member of RISC's trade associations), and they may therefore wish to attend.

Who should attend?
The briefings are aimed at the people who will communicate the key messages throughout their companies, act upon these messages to enhance how these companies operate, and therefore contribute the most to the Government's CONTEST strategy. We therefore envisage that the most appropriate people in your company to attend will be for example directors, business managers, security operations managers, quality managers, process improvement managers, training managers and personnel managers.

Programme
The programme will cover the following:

  • CONTEST: the UK's Counter-Terrorism Strategy
  • PREVENT: Strategy Overview, Implementing the Strategy, Interventions
  • London 2012: Industry Engagement, “Bridging the Gap”, Protective Security, and the role of Private Security
  • Protecting the National Infrastructure: Challenges for the Security Industry
  • PROTECT: the Critical National Infrastructure and Crowded Places

Registration
BSIA, A|D|S and Intellect will collate the details of delegates from their member companies who wish to attend the seminar.

A|D|S members can register by emailing their name and contact details to James Taylor at james.taylor@adsgroup.org.uk by 1600hrs on Friday 22 January.
